Brock Boeser, Canucks extend Ducks' losing streak

Brock Boeser scored two goals to help the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-1 win against the visiting Ducks on Tuesday night, handing Anaheim its seventh consecutive loss.

Elias Pettersson also scored, J.T. Miller had two assists and Thatcher Demko made 30 saves for the Canucks, who improved to 8-1-1 at home this season.

Ryan Strome scored and John Gibson made 24 saves for the Ducks, who have been outscored 33-12 during their skid.

Vancouver took a 1-0 lead at 6:34 of the first period.

Phillip Di Giuseppe left the puck for Miller along the wall in the Anaheim zone, and Miller skated into the right circle before sending a cross-ice pass to Filip Hronek. His one-timer was saved, but the puck fell in the crease and Boeser shot it into the net.

The Canucks went on a power play 47 seconds into the second period and Gibson made a save on Miller's breakaway 55 seconds later to help Anaheim kill the penalty.

The Ducks then went on a power play and Strome received a pass in the right circle with room. He took a couple of strides toward the net before scoring with a wrist shot to tie it 1-1 at 5:10 of the second.

The Canucks grabbed a 2-1 lead 32 seconds into the third period.

Pettersson scored on a wraparound after Gibson lost sight of the puck while engaged with a Vancouver forward Andrei Kuzmenko, a 39-goal scorer last season who was a healthy scratch the previous two games.

Boeser scored his league-leading 17th goal of the season into an empty net to make it 3-1 with 48 seconds left.

Canucks right winger Ilya Mikheyev had to be helped off the ice with 8:54 left in the third period after blocking a shot.

The Canucks traded left winger Anthony Beauvillier to the Chicago Blackhawks a couple hours before the game in exchange for a conditional fifth-round draft pick in the 2024 draft.

The Ducks played without defenseman Radko Gudas, who sustained a knee injury in an 8-2 road defeat against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. Anaheim lost another defenseman when Ilya Lyubushkin did not come out for the second period because of an upper-body injury.

The 11-game point streak by Vancouver's Quinn Hughes came to an end. It was tied for the longest such stretch in franchise history by a defenseman.
