Bryson Stott fuels Phillies to win over Marlins

Bryson Stott belted his second three-run homer of the series and Jesus Luzardo struck out 10 batters, fueling the visiting Philadelphia Phillies to a 7-2 victory over the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.

Stott also launched a three-run homer in Philadelphia's 6-5 victory over Miami on Friday in the opener of the four-game series.

Luzardo (3-3), who pitched for Miami from 2021-24, breezed through six innings before surrendering a two-run homer to Esteury Ruiz in the seventh. That was the lone blemish for Luzardo, who allowed just those two runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Kyle Schwarber and Brandon Marsh reached base three times apiece for the Phillies, who banged out 11 hits after being limited to one in Saturday's 4-0 setback.

Justin Crawford added an RBI single in the third inning to extend his hitting streak to six games.

Philadelphia improved to 5-1 in last six games since firing manager Rob Thomson last Tuesday morning.

Otto Lopez and Christopher Morel each had two hits for the Marlins, who have lost five of their last eight games.

The Phillies took control from the onset, with Trea Turner leading off with a ground-rule double before Schwarber drew a walk. Schwarber, who struck out eight times over the previous two games of the series, flashed a wry smile toward the dugout while his teammates provided a mock ovation.

Bryce Harper also walked to load the bases before a fielder's choice by Alec Bohm plated Turner to open the scoring. Marsh worked a bases-loaded walk and J.T. Realmuto added a sacrifice fly to stake Philadelphia to a 3-0 lead.

The Phillies weren't done, however, as Stott doubled the advantage by depositing a 2-2 cutter from Chris Paddack (0-5) over the wall in right-center field.

Paddack permitted seven runs on six hits with three walks and one strikeout in 2 2/3 innings.
