C.J. Wilson Tweets Mike Napoli's Phone Number. It's Less "Good Prank, Guy" And More "Wow, Dick Move."
Oh good, I see we've reached that point of spring training where everyone's bored and ready for real baseball to start. Tis the silly season, when online personality and sometime pitcher C.J. Wilson takes to Twitter and posts former teammate Mike Napoli's cell phone number to the world.
Supposedly it was revenge for Napoli saying he couldn't wait to hit homers off of Wilson, who left Texas for the friendly confines of Anaheim. Might be funny if they were buddies, but to hear Napoli tell it, they weren't more than battery-mates.
"I don't even know why he did it. You don't do that. I am not taking it as a prank. You know, I haven't even talked to him since the end of last season. We don't have that type of relationship."
Wilson hasn't backed off, instead retweeting messages from fans who don't see why Napoli is being a big baby. So let's officially declare this feud dormant-but-simmering. In the end, Napoli has to change his phone number, which is a hassle. And C.J. Wilson gets to add another to his list of pranks that were funny to him and him alone—like when he posted a pretty damn racist picture on Brandon McCarthy's MySpace page.
