Cal U. Cancels Football Game After 5 Players Busted On Assault Charges
California University (PA) has canceled tomorrow's scheduled game against Gannon University after five of its players landed in jail on charges they beat a man so badly he now suffers from severe brain injury.
Cops say the assault happened when the five Division II players ( identified as James Williamson, Corey Ford, Jonathan Barlow, Rodney Gillin, and D'Andre Dunkley) jumped 30-year-old Lewis Campbell outside of a restaurant in California. Sources told KDKA's Ralph Iannotti they watched the players stomp Campbell until he lost consciousness. The fight reportedly started over one of the players talking to Campbell's girlfriend.
The five are charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment, and conspiracy.
