Carmelo Anthony And Baron Davis Will Play For The Knicks Tonight
Remember these two injured guys with oversize glasses? Yeah, they're playing professional basketball for Jeremy Lin's team tonight, reports ESPN.
Forward Carmelo Anthony will return to the floor on Monday for the New York Knicks after missing the past seven games with a strained right groin.
Tyson Chandler will also play in the Knicks' home game against the New Jersey Nets. He injured his back and his wrists after a second-half fall in the Knicks' win over the Mavericks on Sunday.
Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni also says Baron Davis will play, but Iman Shumpert will sit with a knee injury.
It'll be Davis's season debut—Lin's emergence means that Baron is, at present, no longer expected to save the team—and presumably he and J.R. Smith will split the minutes that Shumpert normally would have filled.
But Melo's return is the real story tonight, as Lin flourished without him. On most possessions, Lin holds the ball and then barrels into the lane. Melo used to hold the ball and take a jumper. Who gets to stop the ball for New York now? We'll find out tonight.
