For the second straight Saturday night the spotlight shines on the always entertaining lightweight division with what was supposed to be a pair of title fights. Unfortunately Joan Guzman was unable to make weight in his quest to unseat Nate Campbell. The two will still headline Showtime's impressive card, albeit without any belts on the line. Meanwhile, the true Ring Magazine lightweight title will be contested tonight, but it will cost you $45 to watch Joel Casamayor battle fellow legend, Juan Manuel Marquez, making his debut at 135. Click to view It's worth noting that both fights have solid, but not spectacular bouts on their respective undercards, so not wanting to spend the money on the pay-per-view is pretty understandable. As for predictions? I like Marquez to win, but at +300 Casamayor is the better bet. On the Showtime card I'm going with the undefeated Guzman over the rugged Campbell, especially with his extra two pounds. It's going to be a busy night for sure, especially if I'm going to watch the second half of that football game on the auxiliary television.
