Cavs Open Investigation After Fan Pesters Patty Mills With Racist Taunts [Update]

Spurs point guard Patty Mills was shooting two free throws in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game in Cleveland when TV cameras picked up a fan heckling from the stands. “Hey Jamaican dog, they want their bobsledder back!” the fan yelled. “Hey Mills, Jamaica just called, they want their bobsledder back!”

According to Cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon, Cavs security officials are looking into the matter, and trying to determine who yelled at Mills. A Cavs spokesperson confirmed the investigation to ESPN. Mills responded last night and thanked the Twitter user who surfaced the clip.

Update, 2/27, 11:26 a.m. ET: The fan has been identified and suspended from the Cavs arena indefinitely.
