Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images CF Montreal acquired defender Tomas Aviles on loan for the 2026 season from Inter Miami on Friday.
The deal for the 21-year-old Argentine center-back includes a purchase option following the loan period.
Aviles helped Inter Miami win the 2025 MLS Cup, the 2024 Supporters' Shield and the 2023 Leagues Cup.
He had three goals and three assists in 63 regular season matches (52 starts) with the Herons from 2023-25.
"Tomas is a reliable defender in one-on-one situations and has a great first pass," CF Montreal managing director Luca Saputo said. "His understanding of the game and ability to defend by pushing forward give us flexibility, both defensively and in terms of the system the coach wants to implement."
Montreal will open the regular season on Feb. 21 at San Diego FC.
