Additionally, the judge ordered that Wheeler can’t contact the victim, Alleah Taylor, and he must pay restitution.
The guilty verdict was three years after the incident occurred in their shared apartment. Wheeler blamed it on having “a manic episode.”
The victim had called 911 to state that she was being “killed,” the Seattle Times reported back in January 2021. She suffered a dislocated arm and was bleeding, according to police.
Wheeler was listed at 6-foot-7, 310 pounds, while the victim was 5-foot-9, and 145 pounds, per the police report.
Her face was covered in blood and her left arm was swollen and limp against her body, and she had noticeable fingerprints on both sides of her neck, according to the police report.
Before the sentence was finalized, Taylor posted on X to thank the people who have supported her.
Wheeler, 30, spent three seasons in the NFL after playing collegiately at USC. The undrafted lineman started 19 of the 32 games he appeared in for the New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks.
