Chargers Line Up For Game-Tying Field Goal, Crap Themselves
The Chargers squandered an eight-point advantage in the second half and allowed the Raiders to claw back and take a 34-31 lead late in the fourth. No worries, however; San Diego had an opportunity to tie the game with a field goal. Surely nothing disastrous could happen on an attainable, 36-yard attempt.
Oh. Oh, no.
Drew Kaser, the Chargers punter and holder who was the team’s sixth-round pick this year, lost control of the snap and let the ball glide by him. He was not able to turn his error into a game-saving play, and the team turned over the ball on downs. QB Philip Rivers watched as the team lost yet another game with him on the sideline, and head coach Mike McCoy did his best impression of an office plant. At least Joey Bosa played well.
