Chihuahuas Come Up With Physics-Defying Groundout
Screencap [object Object] I learned a new baseball rule tonight thanks to the Las Vegas 51s and the El Paso Chihuahuas. In the top of the seventh inning, 51s first baseman Eric Campbell fouled one towards the dugout. Thing is, he hit it with such a serious curve that it sliced right back into play before it passed first base, giving the Chihuahuas their easiest and weirdest out of the night.
Based on MLB’s official definition of a foul ball, this hit became a fair ball again after re-entering from foul territory since it never passed first base or stopped moving.
The 51s still won, but the Chihuahuas got the out, and more importantly, have the cooler mascot.
