Chris Archer Catches A Kiss From A Fan, Coldly Throws It Away
What happens when you try to blow a kiss to Rays phenom Chris Archer? He acts rude as hell and throws the damn thing away!
Chris Archer can be as rude as he wants, though, because he’s basically God with a fastball right now. Yesterday, he struck out 11 Mariners in seven innings without issuing a walk. In his start before that, he sat down 15 Angels in eight innings without walking anyone, and his start before that, he dispatched 12 more Mariners in eight innings without, you guessed it, walking anyone. Add all that up, and Chris Archer has struck out 38 batters in his last 23 innings without allowing a single free pass. This is historic territory (via MLB via The Slurve):
With 11 more strikeouts and no walks Sunday, Archer has become the first pitcher to record nine or more strikeouts without issuing a walk in three consecutive games in the modern era (1910). Another nugget: The 38 strikeouts is the most ever in a three-start stretch without a walk.
Chris Archer just did some shit that no other pitcher in the history of baseball has done. If you happen to bump into him this week, blow him a kiss.
