Cleancast: I'd Rather Walk Through Fire Than Step On A Lego
My guest this week on the official Ask a Clean Person podcast is Blair Koenig, the writer and humorist behind the blog STFU, Parents and author of the book STFU, Parents: The Jaw-Dropping, Self-Indulgent, and Occasionally Rage-Inducing World of Parent Overshare. She joined me to talk all about parenting messes and quandaries—like how to change a diaper on an airplane and the exquisite agony of stepping on a Lego.
We started off by talking about parenting in public spaces, and used the example of air travel to talk about negotiating the line between being a citizen of the world and the fact that parenting is so hard. I’ll level: We didn’t really come up with a solution to the problem of airborne bathroom changing tables. But we did agree that sticking a dirty diaper in the seatback pocket or handing it to a flight attendant to dispose of crosses the line into behavior that’s inconsiderate of others.
Also, from now until the end of time, we’re all committing to a lifetime of wiping down our tray tables and not using our seatback pockets, ever, when we fly on a commercial airline.
In the second segment, I shared some thoughts the Dads of Deadspin have regarding their feelings on Legos [SPOILER ALERT: Their feelings on Legos are not good], and we fielded a reader question about, you guessed it, poop!
