College Football: What's On Tap
The day is chock full of college games. I don't think any of them promise to be spectacular, but I hope the football gods prove me wrong. Here's a look at some of the National and Regional games. Check the coverage map to see who is being shown locally. Noon (regional) Ohio at Ohio State (ESPN): Ohio State will take the field without Beanie Wells, but it likely won't matter. Ohio hasn't won once in 5 showdowns with the Buckeyes and I don't think today's their day. Miami (Ohio) at Michigan (ESPN2): Miami of Ohio is the cocktease of colleges. It's like "Woo hoo, I got into Miami!" and then it's like "Oh. The Ohio one". To add to the depression, they're about to take a beating from the much cooler Michigan. UConn at Temple (ESPNU): I'm going to call this the upset of the day. Temple by 10 points. 3:00 BYU at Washington (FSN): Apparently BYU holds the nation's longest active winning streak with 11 straight wins. Washington got stomped last week at Oregon with a 44-10 loss. The winning streak along with the embarrassing loss make this game mildly interesting. Check out Holly's tailgating guide for survival tips if you're heading out to this one. 3:30 Cincinnati at Oklahoma (ABC): Oklahoma swung their cocks around in a 55 point win last week in an extremely mismatched game against Chattanooga. Cincinnati will be a tougher opponent but the Sooners should have no problem holding them off. Oregon State at Penn State (ABC): The recent suspensions at Penn State could prove to be a major distraction this week. This will be the first ever match-up between the two schools and although Penn State has a great record against Pac-10 teams, they might have to fight a little harder for this win. Mississippi at Wake Forest (ABC): This will be Wake Forest's home opener - Wake has won 10 of the last 13 home openers. Both teams are coming off of lopsided wins and Wake should walk away with this one. 4:30 West Virginia at East Carolina (ESPN): Admittedly, I'm a Hokie, so I hope ECU gets ten footballs shoved up their asses. Sure they played OK last week, but they don't have a shot against the Mountaineers. I hope.
