College Hoops Compendium: This Man Is Not A Good Luck Charm

(7) UCLA 81, (24) Arizona 66. Douche with the dumb sign, meet karma. Karma, meet the douche with the dumb sign (note: picture's been taken down... I don't think the guy got quite the reaction he wanted). Arizona got pounded at home by a superior UCLA team. Darren Collison, starting point guard for UCLA, once upon a time dreamed of being the point guard at Arizona. They didn't recruit him, and he punished them yesterday with a 17-point, 15-assist, 2-turnover performance.

Vanderbilt 83, (1) Florida 70. Vanderbilt's accomplished a lot this year while attracting not a lot of attention. Florida is the 4th ranked team they've beaten, they're second in the SEC East standings, a game ahead of 18th-ranked Kentucky... this probably shouldn't have been as surprising to me as it was. More on this one in a bit.

(15) Southern Illinois 68, (12) Butler 64. The Salukis defend like rabid, bloodthirsty crackwhores. They were all over A.J. Graves and the rest of the Butler Bulldogs yesterday, holding Graves to five points on 1-of-8 shooting. He averages 17.6. In fairness to him, he had the flu, but he also had Salukis in his ass all day.

(4) North Carolina 77, (21) Boston College 72. In the final 90 seconds of the game, BC's Jared Dudley missed three free throws and a three-ball that could have tied it. I don't mean to paint the young man as a goat or a choker, because he's not, and BC had plenty of other things they could've done to win the game. Still, though, missing all three free throws... that's no good.
