Mandatory Credit: Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images Colton Dach scored the go-ahead goal at 15:35 of the third period Saturday night and the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2.
Dach tipped in a shot from the right point by Louis Crevier to give the Blackhawks their fourth win in the past five games.
Ryan Greene and Teuvo Teravainen also scored for the Blackhawks. Spencer Knight stopped 31 shots.
Nicholas Robertson and Morgan Rielly scored for the Maple Leafs, who have lost five in a row.
Joseph Woll, who was out for a personal issue, was solid in his first game of the season and made 29 saves. Toronto's No. 1 goaltender Anthony Stolarz (upper-body injury) was put on injured reserve Saturday.
The Maple Leafs were caught standing around in their own end when Greene scored on a shot from just below the left circle at 11:05 of the first period. Artyom Levshunov was allowed to roam around, and even slip, before passing to Greene.
Toronto tied the game at 19:12 of the first. John Tavares took two whacks at the puck on a wraparound before Robertson chipped in the rebound.
There was a flurry of scoring chances for both teams during the first seven minutes of the second period.
Chicago's Wyatt Kaiser hit a post at 5:22.
The Blackhawks were caught on a long shift when Rielly scored at 9:37 of the second from the edge of the crease on a diagonal pass from Oliver Eckman-Larsson. The Blackhawks unsuccessfully challenged the goal, claiming the puck had been knocked down with a high stick in the buildup.
Toronto's Easton Cowan missed on a breakaway after he returned to the ice from the penalty box at 16:27.
Chicago's Nick Foligno left for the dressing room late in the second period after blocking a shot and did not return.
Teravainen tied the game at 5:12 of the third period with a couple of nifty moves on Rielly after taking a backhand pass from Frank Nazar.
The Blackhawks buzzed around the Toronto zone after that and took the lead 10 minutes later.
