Muhammad has not appeared in a game this season.
The suspension will span the final five games of the regular season. He will either sit out a playoff game — should Indianapolis (7-5) qualify for the postseason — or the first game of the 2024 season.
Muhammad has spent this season on the Colts' practice squad after re-signing with the team on July 21. He played with the Chicago Bears last season before being released on Feb. 17.
Muhammad, 28, has totaled 157 tackles, 12 sacks, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 84 career games (34 starts) with the New Orleans Saints, Bears and Colts. He was selected by the Saints in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
