Cops Take Down Pitch Invader With A Tackle Worthy Of Drawing A Yellow Card
A fan who rushed onto FedEx Field to celebrate Brazil's late goal to secure a 4-1 win over the United States in last night's friendly match found himself on the receiving end of what can only be called a clattering tackle.
The fan can be seen briefly on ESPN2's feed rushing onto the pitch after Alexandre Pato's goal in the 87th minute, and this video pretty much tells the story of what happened next. We don't have a name for the fan or a list of charges filed, but after all the streakers we've had at Baltimore Orioles games, this sort of incident should be old hat to Maryland authorities.
Update (11:55 a.m.): Reader Brendan saw the incident firsthand and reports the fan, despite appearances, was cheering for the United States and even had a flag at one point—but that "he was pounding Yuenglings all night."
