Curry, Warriors overwhelm Hornets

Stephen Curry scored 23 points in a return to his hometown as the visiting Golden State Warriors beat the Charlotte Hornets 115-97 on Friday night.
The Warriors (39-34), who have a three-game winning streak made up exclusively of road games, also received 20 points from Andrew Wiggins and 18 from Trayce Jackson-Davis, while Moses Moody added 15 off the bench.
Teammate Chris Paul, another North Carolinian who takes pride in games in Charlotte, contributed 11 points and a game-high nine assists.
Miles Bridges led Charlotte (18-55) with 22 points, though that wasn't enough to give the team consecutive victories for the first time in more than a month. Davis Bertans had 14 points in the first 20 minutes for the Hornets, but he didn't score again.
Brandon Miller, who limped off the court and headed for medical treatment early in the fourth quarter before returning to the court briefly, joined Grant Williams and Nick Richards with 12 points for Charlotte.
Golden State largely looked in good shape by early in the third quarter with some strong shooting, ending up at 53.9 percent from the field. Curry shot 9-for-18 from the field, making four 3-point baskets.
Charlotte shot 40.5 percent from the floor, launching 46 of its 84 field-goal attempts from 3-point range and making 12 (26.1 percent).
The Hornets tried to be aggressive, and they finished 17-for-24 on free throws. Golden State was 8-for-9 on foul shots.
Jackson-Davis was a big factor in the lane. He hauled in four offensive rebounds for eight total, and he blocked three shots at the other end.
The Warriors were up 50-45 at halftime, then they put together a 39-point third quarter. Curry had the first five points of Golden State's 11-0 run in the third quarter. Moody's four-point play pushed the gap to 87-69 with 1:30 left in the third.
Golden State's Klay Thompson was scratched from the Golden State lineup because of a sore right knee.
