Curtis Jones, Iowa State tackle Prairie View A&M

Curtis Jones had a season-high 22 points, Keshon Gilbert scored 20 and Iowa State delivered a stifling defensive effort to win 107-56 over Prairie View A&M on Sunday in Ames, Iowa.

Tamin Lipsey had 19 points with a school-record eight steals for the Cyclones (8-2), who shot 60.8 percent from the field (9-of-15 from 3-point range) and scored 34 points off a season-high 29 turnovers by Prairie View to win their third in a row.

Jones set a career high with six made 3s on eight attempts, and Gilbert recorded eight rebounds and eight assists.

Iowa State, which entered averaging 83.7 points, has scored at least 90 in each of its last three. The Cyclones made up for their season-high 25 turnovers by holding Prairie View (4-4) to 33.3 percent shooting and 21 second-half points.

Iowa State also held Prairie View's Charles Smith IV scoreless while he was hindered by three early fouls. Smith averaged a team-leading 16.6 points entering Sunday.

Charles Lane Jr. had 13 points for the Panthers, who, in addition to their carelessness with the ball, were outrebounded 43-22 by the Cyclones.

Some sloppy play early from Iowa State, which committed 13 turnovers in the first half, allowed Prairie View to stay competitive during a back-and-forth start. Gilbert, though, broke a 17-17 tie with two made free throws to begin a 13-1 run for the hosts. Lipsey scored seven of those points for Iowa State to go up 29-18.

Paced by Jones, Iowa State shot 7-of-10 from distance in the first half, and Jackson Paveletzke's 3 with less than 2 minutes before the break made it a 50-30 contest.

The teams combined for 28 turnovers, 26 fouls and 31 foul shots in the first half.

However, in the second half, Gilbert registered 12 points and Lipsey and Jones each added eight as Iowa State scored 26 of the first 32 points of the half — highlighted by a 18-0 run — to build a 78-41 advantage.

Iowa State won its 24th consecutive home game against nonconference opponents.
