D-backs reinstate RHP Paul Sewald from IL

The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated right-handed relief pitcher Paul Sewald from the 15-day injured list on Tuesday.
Sewald began the season on the IL because of a strained left oblique. The closer is with the team in Cincinnati ahead of a three-game series with the Reds that begins Tuesday night.
Sewald, who turns 34 this month, recorded a career-high 34 saves last season between the Seattle Mariners and Arizona. The Mariners dealt him to Arizona ahead of the trade deadline.
In seven seasons spent with the New York Mets (2017-20), Mariners (2021-23) and Diamondbacks, Sewald is 19-23 with a 4.06 ERA and 68 saves. He has pitched 317 games, all out of the bullpen, finishing 130. He's tossed 407 strikeouts in 336 2/3 career innings.
In a related move, Arizona optioned right-hander Scott McGough to Triple-A Reno. McGough had made 15 appearances out of the bullpen for Arizona this season, going 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA and two blown saves.
