David Castillo's late layup rescues K-State in win over Tulsa

P.J. Haggerty produced a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (4-0). Khamari McGriff scored 13 points and pulled down nine boards, Castillo chipped in 12 points and Abdi Bashir Jr. added 10 points.
Miles Barnstable led the Golden Hurricane (3-1) with 18 points and nine rebounds. Myles Rigsby and Tylen Riley each added 12 points, and David Green scored 11 points.
Barnstable hit a 3-pointer with 2:04 to play that put Tulsa up 79-76. McGriff followed with two free throws, and Kansas State trailed by one.
Ian Smikle's layup put the Golden Hurricane up 81-78 with 1:15 to go. Rigby hit a pair of free throws and Tulsa led by five with 49 seconds to play. Three seconds later, Haggerty converted two foul shots, cutting Kansas State's deficit to 83-80.
Haggerty's leaner cut the Tulsa lead to 83-82 with 31 seconds left. A steal by McGriff set up Castillo's layup as Kansas State closed the game on a 6-0 run. Green missed a short jumper for Tulsa as time expired.
Kansas State took a 37-27 lead on a Bashir 3-pointer with 2:41 left in the first half, but the Golden Hurricane closed the first half on a 7-2 run. A Jaylen Lawal trey cut Kansas State's lead to 39-34 at halftime.
Barnstable hit a 3-point that kicked off a 5-0 Tulsa run to open the second half, leaving the game tied at 39. Bashir's jumper gave the Wildcats a 43-39 lead with 17:14 to play, but a 9-2 run gave Tulsa a 53-49 lead on a Riley fastbreak layup with 12:49 remaining.
A 5-0 rally consisting of a Green 3-pointer and a Riley layup pulled Tulsa within 72-70 as the clock hit 5:05. Smikle tied the game at 74 with a layup, and Riley scooped in a layup as Tulsa went up 76-74 with 2:36 to go.
