David Ortiz Goes On Slowest Home Run Trot On Record
Thanks to our friends at Tater Trot Tracker, who have been timing home run trots for years now, we know that nobody takes his time getting around the bases quite like David Ortiz does.
In the eighth inning of last night's game against the Rangers, Ortiz went deep to right field. After pausing to see if the ball was fair or foul, Ortiz finally broke into a trot that clocked in at 32.91 seconds.
The record for slowest home run trot was previously held by Bobby Abreu, who once took 31.56 seconds to get around the bases. According to Tater Trot Tracker, Ortiz owned seven of the 10 slowest trots from last year. So if anybody deserves to have this record under his name, it's David Ortiz.
