David Wright Was Being Playful When He Said "Fuck You" To Freddie Freeman
Mets third baseman and lunch policeman David Wright was fired up after tying the game with an RBI single in the seventh inning of Wednesday night’s game. This was right after Freddie Freeman gave the Braves a 3-2 lead in the top half of the inning with his pinch-hit two-RBI double. When Wright reached first base, he had a clear message for Freeman.
After the game, Wright was asked just how serious he was about that “fuck you” to the Braves first baseman. It was apparently more in jest. Via MLB Braves reporter Mark Bowman:
“I am angry at him,” Wright said. “He hit a two-run double and a three-run homer. I am angry at him, but more in a playful way.”
Freeman didn’t have anything to say regarding the “fuck you,” but the first baseman ended up with the last word by clobbering a three-run home run in the ninth to seal Atlanta’s 6-3 victory.
