Delightful Trade Rumor: Twins To Consider Dealing Jaime Garcia Days After Acquiring Him
Photo Credit: Harry How/ [object Object] Scarcely 24 hours after officially acquiring Jaime Garcia, the Twins are rumored to be interested in dealing him.
A week ago, Minnesota reasonably had some pretty serious designs on contention: just half a game out of first place in the AL Central, which meant they were also just half a game out of the wild card race. Last Friday, it leaked that they were trying to get some rotation depth in the form of Braves starting pitcher Garcia. But an issue with the physical exam of one of the prospects involved in the trade pushed the deal back to this Monday—which was apparently enough time for the Twins to start considering turning from buyers to sellers.
Minnesota has lost three straight and four of their last five, which has pushed them one game below .500 and allowed a surging Royals team to force them from second place in the division down to third. That situation has led to this tidbit from the typically well-sourced Jon Morosi of MLB Network:
Garcia is scheduled to make his Twins debut on Friday against the A’s. (If he makes it that long.)
