Derrick Rose Tears Medial Meniscus, Out Indefinitely
The Bulls announced that an MRI confirmed Derrick Rose suffered a tear of his right medial meniscus last night against the Blazers. The injury will require surgery and another indefinite absence from the team. According to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, Rose is returning to Chicago and will have surgery "in the near future."
We've discussed recovery times for meniscus tears before, but as we've learned, especially with this specific player, not all bodies recover the same. While it is not the nightmare torn-ACL scenario envisioned last night, it's still a significant loss for Chicago and fans of basketball.
