DeSean Jackson wants to be the next Magic Johnson
credits: [object Object] $91 million is a lot of money, but not enough for former NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson.
Jackson, who recently went on the No Jumper podcast, said that, while grateful for all the money he made playing football, he wants to continue earning. The millions of dollars he did make are going towards his kids, he said.
“Right now, I still need bread, so I’m out here getting all type of stuff, going private equity, real estate,” he said. “Sh*t, f*ck the NFL. That sh*t was cool, but what’s next? I’m trying to go touch some Magic Johnson-type sh*t.”
Jackson retired from the league this year as an Eagle, signing a one-day contract with his former team. Throughout his time in the NFL, he played for Philadelphia, Washington, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Baltimore. He had multiple seasons with over 1,000 yards. He is probably most remembered for returning a 65-yard punt for a touchdown against the Giants in 2010 as time expired.
As he looks to the future, he would like to have an off-field career similar to the trajectory Magic Johnson’s did — investing in businesses and potentially having ownership in teams.
“The hustler I am, I ain’t satisfied with the money I made in the NFL,” Jackson said. “I would meet you today, and you wouldn’t even think I made $100 plus million in NFL”
