Despite late collapse, San Diego State gets by Cal in OT

Darrion Trammell finished with nine points and Micah Parrish had eight points for San Diego State (5-1), which has won four games in a row.
Jaylon Tyson scored 23 points, Fardaws Aimaq finished with 14 points and 18 rebounds and Grant Newell contributed 11 points for Cal (2-5), which has lost four in a row.
After the Aztecs missed 17 straight field-goal attempts to end regulation and start overtime, LeDee made a jumper to give San Diego State a 67-63 lead with 2:55 left in the game.
LeDee sank another jumper to forge a four-point lead with 1:36 remaining.
Trammell, Elijah Saunders and Waters each made two free throws over the final 1:17 to lock up the win.
The Aztecs went up 59-47 on two free throws by Trammell with 9:24 remaining in the second half, but San Diego State couldn't put Cal away.
Rodney Brown Jr. cut the Golden Bears' deficit to four with a 3-pointer with 4:35 left, and he hit another trey to make it a one-point deficit with 2:23 remaining.
Aimaq made 1 of 2 free throws to tie it 63-63 with 1:42 left and cap a 9-0 run.
Cal scored the first five points of the game before the Aztecs took their first lead at 10-8 on a slam dunk by Saunders.
A 10-3 run by the Aztecs gave them their biggest lead of the first half at 30-24 with 6:09 left before the break.
The Golden Bears managed to get back within a point before San Diego State eventually took a 39-34 lead into the break on a turnaround jumper by Trammell with three seconds left.
San Diego State point guard Lamont Butler picked up two early fouls and played just five minutes in the first half. The Aztecs were leading by seven when Butler picked up his third personal 1:49 into the second half, and he went to the bench shortly afterwards.
San Diego State didn't slow down, however, taking its first double-digit lead at 52-42 on a basket by Parrish with 13:37 left.
