Devils Fan Ridiculed By Panthers President For Lack Of Twitter Followers Now Has More Followers Than He Does
It's been two days since the Florida Panthers launched a concerted effort to blame visiting Devils fans for disrupting play by chucking rubber rats on the ice, despite the fact that it's a Panthers tradition and they sell the damn things for $5 in the arena. (And collect them to resell after they're thrown.) Panthers president Michael Yormark was one of the blamers, and got into it on Twitter with Devils fan Laura Rubino, ridiculing her by saying "you have 70 followers. No one cares what you think."
It's been a whirlwind couple of days for Rubino, who became a symbol of resistance to mouthy executives (and to everything wrong with Twitter. Follower counts? Really?) Puck Daddy has the rundown of Rubino's odyssey, which culminated in receiving luxury box tickets for last night's game 6 in Newark. She took that photo over there, of Michael Yormark—coincidentally seated just below her.
Sometime around 4:00 EDT today, cosmic Twitter justice was handed down. Rubino now has more followers than Yormark.
No matter what happens in tomorrow's game 7, no Yormark will ever again have to set foot in New Jersey. Michael's twin brother Brett has been key in the Nets' move to Brooklyn.
