Diego Costa Just Won't Stop Scoring
Spanish side Atlético Madrid are hosting AC Milan this evening in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie. Madrid snuck an away 1-0 win at Milan in the first match after an 83rd-minute goal from Brazilian-born Spanish forward Diego Costa. Today, it only took him three minutes to add to his Champions League tally.
After a bad turnover from Michael Essien on the left wing in Milan's defensive third, Madrid midfielder Koke looked up and chipped a perfectly weighted pass to the back post. The ball floated over a defender's head, but it looked a little bit out of Costa's reach, until the 6-foot-2 forward jumped, extended his left leg, and managed to get a boot on the ball to guide Koke's cross into the back of the net. Madrid lead Milan 2-1 at half.
In case you've missed it, Costa has been playing out of his mind all year. He's scored 28 goals across all competitions this season, and has led his club to second place in La Liga, sandwiched between league leaders Real Madrid and third-place Barcelona. So far, he's been unstoppable in Champions League as well. Costa has played five matches, but he's scored in each and has six goals in that span. He's pretty good.
