Mandatory Credit: Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Emmet Sheehan will miss the rest of the season after undergoing elbow surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn right UCL.
Sheehan had not pitched for the Dodgers this season after he was placed on the 60-day injured list in late March with right forearm inflammation.
The 24-year-old went 4-1 with a 4.92 ERA over 13 appearances (11 starts) with Los Angeles last season, striking out 64 over 60 1/3 innings.
The Dodgers on Thursday recalled left-handed pitcher Nick Ramirez from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned right-handed pitcher Eduardo Salazar to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Ramirez returns to Los Angeles for his third stint this season with the big-league club. The 34-year-old reliever has a 1.29 ERA over five appearances for the Dodgers, allowing one earned run on four hits across seven innings.
Salazar, 26, surrendered one run in two innings of relief at San Francisco on Wednesday in his Los Angeles debut.
