Dodgers remove LHP Tanner Scott (abscess) from NLDS roster

The Los Angeles Dodgers replaced left-hander Tanner Scott on their National League Division Series roster due to injury on Thursday with approval from Major League Baseball.
Scott is dealing with a lower-body abscess and underwent a procedure Wednesday night, according to Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts. He is being replaced by left-hander Justin Wrobleski.
"Minor procedure," Roberts told reporters before Thursday's Game 4 against the Philadelphia Phillies. "I don't know a whole lot about it, to be quite honest with you, but I do know that he's recovering well."
MLB medical director Dr. Gary Green reviewed the medical info and confirmed Scott's injury.
The removal from the roster makes Scott ineligible to play in the NL Championship Series should the Dodgers advance. Los Angeles holds a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five division series.
Roberts said the team is not ruling out Scott for the World Series should the squad advance that far.
Roberts said Scott displayed signs of discomfort on Tuesday's workout day. At that point, Roberts said the club didn't know "exactly the extent of it."
With Scott not at the ballpark during Wednesday night's Game 3, Dodgers icon Clayton Kershaw was called on to pitch two innings of relief and was racked for five runs (four earned) and six hits, including two home runs in the eighth inning.
Scott, 31, signed a four-year, $72 million contract as a free agent in the offseason. He struggled in his first season with the Dodgers and went 1-4 with 23 saves and a 4.74 ERA in 61 relief appearances. He hasn't pitched in the postseason.
Wrobleski, 25, went 5-5 with a 4.32 ERA in 24 appearances (two starts). He has never appeared in a postseason game.
