Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Umpires
This image was lost some time after publication. Umpire Joe West was the crew chief for the World Series that just ended and apparently nobody watched. Cowboy Joe West ... hey, that's the same guy!
Yep, baseball umpire Joe West is, in addition to being the only umpire in the postseason who WASN'T screamed at by Ozzie Guillen, Phil Garner, Mike Scoscia or Tony LaRussa, a country western singer, with a CD out called "Blue Cowboy" and a Web site at CowboyJoeWest.com. His album features hits like "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys," "Dixie" and, in full MP3 format, Joe's take on "Take Me Out To The Ball Game." Definitely the best country western umpire cover of a song we've probably heard 600,000 times.
