Dustin Pedroia Scores Winning Run By Dancing Around Rays Catcher
Dustin Pedroia scored an incredibly wacky run today, jumping around Rays catcher Luke Maile and eventually putting his nuts in Maile’s face to give the Red Sox their 11th straight win.
In the top of the 10th inning, Pedroia took off from first on a David Ortiz double that was tracked down by Rays center fielder Jaff Decker, thrown to cutoff man Logan Forsythe, and thrown to Maile well before Pedroia reached home.
Pedroia avoided the tag until Maile let the ball slip out of his glove for an error. The Rays challenged the play, but officials upheld the call, giving the Red Sox a 3-2 lead and, eventually, the win.
