Baton Rouge police charged LSU defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao today with simple battery and simple robbery, stemming from the events after a bar fight on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old football player tried to rifle through the pockets of an already-unconscious man before punching the man’s girlfriend in the face, according to a police report obtained by the :
Lealaimatafao continued to dig through the male victim’s pockets after the alleged beating. Three eye witnesses told police that the football player fled the scene when authorities arrived. All three witnesses gave police similar accounts of the incident and identified Lealaimatafao out of a photo lineup.
Lealaimatafao hadn’t seen any time on the field season after two incidents last July. He hurt his arm punching a window in a weight room and later got arrested for allegedly stealing a bicycle.
A spokesperson for the team said Lealaimatafao had been suspended indefinitely followed today’s arrest.
Update (9:09 p.m.): Lealaimatafao was actually one of four LSU players arrested today.
It’s unclear if the other three arrests were connected to Lealaimatafao.
