DeAndre Jordan Snapchatted Doc Rivers's Son (Not Austin) To Say He Wanted To Return
We know that after agreeing to join the Dallas Mavericks in free agency, DeAndre Jordan had second thoughts and eventually re-signed with the Clippers. What we didn’t know—until now—were the mechanics of how Jordan got back in contact with the Clippers, and they’re even funnier than you could have possibly imagined. Via Sports Illustrated:
“DeAndre thought about leaving, but right away, he knew he wanted to come back,” said Rivers. “He even Snapchatted my youngest son Spencer. He had told two or three people he’d made a mistake [after signing the offer sheet with Dallas], but the Snapchat said, ‘Tell your dad to call me.’”
DeAndre Jordan—a grown-ass man in the process of reneging on his commitment and signing an $88 million contract—got back in contact with his head coach of two years via a message on a disappearing messaging app to a third party
Mark Cuban, the owner of the team Jordan spurned, owns a vastly less successful disappearing messaging app called Cyber Dust, which he promotes by making reporters ask him questions over it
Jordan was in closer contact with Doc Rivers’s 20-year-old son Spencer than his 24-year-old son (and teammate) Austin, or Doc himself
That’s it. That’s the last funny detail to emerge from this entire debacle, right? There can’t be anything left.
The rest of the article has a bunch of other good stories, like the time Doc hid $2,600 in the locker room ceiling of the Lakers’ arena, and the epic arm wrestling match between Kevin Garnett and Big Baby.
