FSU RB Karlos Williams Being Investigated For Alleged Domestic Battery
For the umpteenth time this season, things are getting strange—and ugly—in Tallahassee. The City of Tallahassee Police Department announced today on their Facebook page that they are "currently working on an alleged domestic battery involving Karlos Williams," Florida State's leading rusher. The TPD statement didn't come totally out of the blue, but the last few days for this story have been quite strange.
On Friday afternoon, a Jacksonville sports radio host tweeted out that Williams would be suspended for violating team rules:
Almost immediately, FSU officials informed Ballou that he was wrong, and he ended up apologizing for an erroneous report. That didn't stop reporters from asking coach Jimbo Fisher about it at a press conference later that day, which went about as well as expected. Via the Orlando Sentinel:
"There's another false report, and that's amazing how things happen," Fisher said Friday. "Whoever has sources, whoever has rumors, needs to check who they are talking to – because that is about as far from truth as there is."
That would've been the end of it—sports radio dude messes up report, coach gets angry—but then Miranda Wilhelm, the mother of Williams's child, got involved Friday night.
The post isn't currently visible on Wilhelm's Facebook, but it isn't clear whether that's because it was deleted, or only a subset of her friends are able to see it.
Williams becomes the second high-profile Seminole to be investigated for alleged violent acts with women, the other being Jameis Winston of course. Florida State has a nationally televised game at Louisville on Thursday; it remains to be seen whether Williams plays.
