Iowa Man Accused Of Drunk Driving, Fighting Police While Naked

Matthew Roberts from Iowa City, Iowa, was arrested Tuesday morning after fleeing the scene of a car crash. That wasn't the end of his night, however.

Roberts reportedly crashed his car into a guardrail around 3 a.m. Tuesday and fled on foot. After he was caught—and blew a .173 BAC, a little over half of fellow Iowa City resident Vodka Samm's .341—he was wrangled into the back of a squad car. Roberts started headbutting the car cage, busting his head open.

Police took Roberts to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to get his injury treated. The situation deteriorated from there, according to officials.

Police said while in the emergency room lobby, Roberts took off his pants and "caused a scene." Later, when he was discharged from the hospital, Roberts refused to get dressed and started two fights with the deputy while he was still naked.

"Mr. Roberts was uncooperative the entire time," the complaint states.

Fun night. Roberts was charged with second-offense drunken driving and interference with official acts.
