Milan Lucic's DV charges dropped after wife refuses to testify

Lucic took an indefinite leave of absence from the team back in November due to the alleged incident, and was arrested the next day. News came out that he appeared intoxicated when he returned home on Nov. 17, and reportedly choked his wife, Brittany. She said to the responding officers that he tried to pull her hair, but did not say she was choked.
“She is crying, she’s distressed. She says that she ran from her apartment because of this incident,” Assistant District Attorney Samuel Jones argued this morning. “Later on, she says that she’s not going to go back to the apartment because her husband put his hands around her neck and she’s scared of that.”
The judge ruled that the 911 call placed by Lucic’s wife was inadmissible, and his attorney said that the call failed to say that the forward was a suspect. The attorney also alleges that Lucic’s wife sounded like she was intoxicated when she made the call, thus potentially fabricating the whole story, and said that if she was choked, she would have had markings on her neck, which should have been more obvious to the first responders.
Lucic was a member of the Bruins team that won the Stanley Cup in 2011. After the 2014-15 season, he was traded to the Kings. He has also played with the Oilers and the Flames before making his way back to Boston this year. In four appearances, he has two points this season.
