Year In Review: July
This image was lost some time after publication. The year is almost over. All the magazines are doing year-in-review type stuff, so we figured, why should we be any different? Therefore, for the next 12 days, we will be looking back on each month on the calendar, pointing out the weird/important/amusing stuffs that happened that month. Deadspin wasn't around until September, though, so if you have suggestions as for stories you want to make sure we don't miss, let us know at [email protected].
JULY HIGHLIGHTS • July 12: The American League wins its ninth consecutive All-Star game, securing the World Series home field advantage of historic, gorgeous U.S. Cellular Field. • July 15: Rafael Palmiero knocks his 3,000th hit. It's a moment no one will ever forget. • July 22: The Pittsburgh Penguins win the rights to draft 17-year-old prodigy Sidney Crosby. NHL excited to build league around a teenager named "Sidney." • July 24: Lance Armstrong wins his final (?) Tour de France and celebrates by wearing this outfit again. • July 26: ESPN announces that Joe Theismann will be its "Monday Night Football" color man when it takes over the program in 2006.
