Evan Gattis Is Having A Pretty Rough Go Of It Right Now
On Wednesday, Astros designated hitter Evan Gattis saw 17 pitches and struck out four times. Yesterday, Gattis saw 17 more pitches and struck out four more times. That’s eight straight strikeouts on just 34 pitches, and six of those punch outs featured Gattis going down swinging.
Against Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer yesterday, Gattis struck out swinging at a curveball that bounced well in front of home plate. Gattis’s last two games have been full of ugly swings like that one, and he was understandably feeling pretty glum after yesterday’s game:
Baseball can be a real bastard sometimes.
It particularly sucks to see Gattis struggling, because he is a fun player and basically a folk hero. I’ll always be in the tank for a dude nicknamed El Oso Blanco, so here’s hoping he breaks out with a multi-homer game sooner rather than later.
