Worst WWE Storylines of 2026: Liv Morgan, Danhausen and More

JD McDonaugh hit a headbutt on Joe Hendry to pick up the victory in a rivalry about the size of his head and Funko Pops. WWE officials backstage may have chuckled, but fans are desperate for this storyline to end. It’s time to look at the worst storylines in WWE this year. Buckle up because it’s going to be a bumpy ride. Just ask Je’Von Evans, who appeared on Raw two days after being launched off a ladder into an ambulance at Money in the Bank.

Before we hit the headlines, here are some honorable mentions.

• Kaire Sane released during Iyo Sky and Asuka feud
• Tag team division in shambles across the board
• Big Cass’s underwhelming return

Bron Breakker doesn’t fit WWE’s vision

Bron Breakker was booked to win the Royal Rumble this year. Instead, Roman Reigns became a 2X winner, and Breakker didn’t enter the match. Fans considered him the favorite to win MITB, but Penta won instead. He’s in one of the least relevant stables in WWE, and hasn’t defended the tag titles with Theory in over 100 days.

TKO’s WM 42 Night 1 Nightmare

Two superstars with decades of history, and two former members of Legacy. All they had to do was allude to it. They could’ve brought in Ted Dibiase Jr., but he was involved in civil matters. Instead, Randy Orton turned heel and got paired with Pat McAfee. Jelly Roll also slotted into the storyline, and their WM match was so bad their rumored tag match never happened.

Liv Morgan’s Reign of (t)error

1 title defense and two title matches for Liv Morgan’s title reign. She has a magnetic personality, but WWE hasn’t booked her well because she hardly wrestles, and her promos are unbearable. They decided to put the title on her again, but didn’t let Roxanne Perez win MITB to heighten the tension. She’ll likely beat Chelsea Green at Crown Jewel, but if she is going to be a background character in the Judgment Day, it’s Deja vu.

Danhausen’s Curse is Catching up to WWE

Here is who Danhausen has feuded with this year: The Miz, Kit Wilson, Dominik Mysterio, and Gunther. Does anyone remember his concert with Joe Hendry? The ‘Human Monies on a Pole’ match at SummerSlam with Mysterio was a hit and miss. Now he is interacting with Gunther on SmackDown, and creative’s also wondering where everything went wrong with the Ring General. The biggest heel in the company, retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, is relegated to beating up a face-painted vampire? TKO loves Danhausen, but his schtick is getting old, and his curses are more ridiculous by the week.

Nikki Bella and Paige: Total Divas becomes Total Embarrassment

Paige returned and took Nikki Bella’s place at WM because Nikki was injured. She won the tag titles with Brie Bella and suffocated the division. On the night the Bellas turned on Paige after losing at SummerSlam, Brie got hurt. Unfortunately, this stalled a Bella Twins reunion and tag title reign. Why did they pivot to Nikki and Paige insulting each other about their past love lives and having sub-par matches? These two deserve better than being relegated to romantic lore.

Tiffy Time AGAIN?

This isn’t an offense to Tiffany Stratton because she’s a fantastic performer. However, she doesn’t need the briefcase to turn heel on Chelsea Green and become champion. Fans wanted Roxanne to win so desperately that WWE wanted to swerve them. Instead, it backfired on them. Now we are stuck with another tumultuous Liv Morgan reign. Meanwhile, no one will be shocked when Stratton hits the Prettiest Moon Sault Ever on Green and takes her title. The internet predicts she could fail her cash-in since they’ve advertised a 100% success rate. One thing's for sure: Rhea Ripley’s return could be on the horizon, and she’s taking that belt with her.

Crown Jewel is two weeks away, and the overwhelming majority of superstars don’t want to travel to Saudi Arabia. WWE/TKO plans to have the PLE despite the U.S. government strongly advising against it. We’ll look at the most memorable moments in Saudi Arabia and predict who will walk out the victor next week.
