Evangelista Santos To Give Away Donations He Received After Suffering Skull Fracture
After MMA fighter Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos suffered a gruesome skull fracture in a Bellator fight against Michael Page, his ex-wife set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for his medical bills. Santos ended up not needing that money, and now he’s giving it to a good cause.
Santos explained to MMA Junkie that his ex-wife was confused about how his medical bills would be paid. Bellator covered all the expenses, and Santos never wanted or needed the $24,000 that was raised by his fans. Instead of keeping the money, he’s going to donate it to an institute that cares for child street workers in Rondonopolis, Brazil. Santos explained:
“Ever since I was a child, I’ve wanted to repay, from my heart, the sense of security and direction I received at this project,” he said. “Today I’m the fruit of their labors. So I wish to use the money that has been raised to launch a great dream of mine, to offer martial arts, literature and English classes. That way, we can prepare new champions for the fight that is life, and encourage them to use their full potential – intellectual, physical and technical.”
It’s nice to see that this story, aside from the part where a guy got his skull fractured, has a happy ending.
