Fake Quote About Derek Carr Getting Mall Tacos Makes It Into AP Story
On Friday night, a story on Raiders DE Justin Tuck moved across the Associated Press wire. It contained the following quote from coach Dennis Allen about rookie QB Derek Carr, emphasis mine:
''I'm excited to watch him play,'' Allen said. ''The kid has come out there and worked hard. He's done a great job in his preparation and I am excited about him watching him go out there and play hard, while watching him to go get tacos in the mall. He just has to understand that there are 10 other guys in his side playing their lights out in playing the game.''
On Sunday night—two days later!— this correction moved:
In a story Sept. 5 about Oakland Raiders defensive end Justin Tuck, The Associated Press erroneously reported a quote from Raiders coach Dennis Allen. The quote should read: "He's done a great job in his preparation, and I am excited about watching him go out there and play and understand that there are 10 other guys out there playing the game with him, so some other guys are going to have to step up and make plays, too."
The Associated Press, and literally nobody else, regrets the error.
