Fever win WNBA draft lottery, in position for Caitlin Clark

The Indiana Fever won the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft lottery for the second straight year.
The Fever had the best odds — 442 out of 1,000 chances — to hear their name called Sunday afternoon after selecting South Carolina forward/center Aliyah Boston first overall last April. Boston went on to win WNBA Rookie of the Year.
Now Indiana is in position to take Iowa star Caitlin Clark, one of the most prolific scorers the women's game has seen in recent memory. However, Clark is eligible to play another college season and has yet to decide if she will stay at Iowa or turn pro.
UConn star Paige Bueckers and Stanford double-double machine Cameron Brink are also likely to be available at the top of the draft. The draft will be held April 15.
The Los Angeles Sparks, Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm rounded out the top four selections.
The Mercury had the second-best odds to win the No. 1 pick (276 out of 1,000) but instead slipped to third, behind the nearby rival Sparks.
Lottery odds were determined by team records over the past two seasons. The Fever went 18-58 over 2022 and 2023, the worst in the league.
