Florida State Takes Team Photos With, Without Dalvin Cook
Florida State football held their media day this morning, which included a pair of team photographs, one with and one without sophomore running back Dalvin Cook. Cook was suspended indefinitely on July 10 when he was charged with battery after allegedly punching a woman in the face several times. His next court date recently got pushed back from July 30 to September 2, three days before FSU’s season opener against Texas State.
Here’s Orlando Sentinel reporter Brendan Sonnone on the scene:
If Cook is found guilty of battery, he will likely be dismissed from the team. Former FSU backup quarterback De’Andre Johnson punched a woman in the face at a Tallahassee bar the day before Cook’s alleged battery, and after video of the incident was released coach Jimbo Fisher kicked him off the team. Cook’s legal status is still up in the air, and we likely won’t know anything until right before the season opener, or afterwards, so the team hedged their bets and prepared for both scenarios. Both Cook and starting quarterback Everett Golson are on the watchlist for the Maxwell Award.
