Former NFL player Joe McKnight has been shot and killed in Terrytown, La., today in an “apparent road rage” incident, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was 28.
McKnight was shot after an argument at an intersection around 3 p.m., according to NOLA.com. From the report:
A witness, who declined to give her name, said she was leaving a store in the area when she saw a man at the intersection yelling at another man, who was trying to apologize. The man who was yelling shot the other man more than once, she said.
She said the shooter shot the man, stood over him and said “I told you don’t you f—- with me.” Then he fired again, she said.
The Sheriff’s Office said that the shooter is in custody.
The New York Jets drafted McKnight in 2010. He last played in the NFL in 2014, for the Kansas City Chiefs.
