Freddy Peralta, Brewers win pitchers' duel over Angels

Freddy Peralta threw six scoreless innings and got just enough support from his offense in the Milwaukee Brewers' 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night in Anaheim, Calif.
Peralta (5-4) outpitched counterpart Tyler Anderson (6-7), who gave up just one run in seven innings but took the loss. Peralta gave up three hits -- all singles --while striking out eight and walking two while throwing 101 pitches.
The Angels had opportunities against Peralta, but the right-hander kept the Angels hitless (0 for 7) with runners in scoring position.
The Angels' best chance to score against Peralta came in the sixth. Luis Rengifo hit an infield single with one out and went to second on a balk.
After Taylor Ward struck out for the second out, Kevin Pillar walked. With Logan O'Hoppe at the plate, Peralta appeared to have Rengifo picked off second base, but he threw wildly into center field, allowing Rengifo to reach third and Pillar to take second.
Peralta escaped when he retired O'Hoppe on a grounder to second.
Peralta's scoreless outing marked the second straight scoreless start by a Brewers starter, following Tobias Myers' 6 1/3 scoreless innings in Tuesday's 6-3 Milwaukee win.
Bryan Hudson threw two scoreless innings of relief and Trevor Megill pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 15th save.
Peralta and Anderson matched each other, except for Rhys Hoskins' sacrifice fly in the first that gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead.
Starting with a strikeout of Hoskins to end the third, Anderson retired 11 consecutive batters, ending when Gary Sanchez singled with one out in the seventh.
Anderson got through seven innings, allowing one run on four hits and three walks, striking out five while throwing 99 pitches. It was the sixth time in 15 starts that Anderson has gone at least seven innings. He has allowed just one run in six of his last seven starts, lowering his season ERA to 2.48.
Willy Adames' RBI single in the eighth scored the Brewers' second run.
