French Figure Skater Performs Short Program To "Rapper's Delight"
Photo: Harry How/ [object Object] Figure skaters are really taking full advantage of being allowed to perform to music with lyrics at the 2018 Olympic Games. Chafik Besseghier, the second guy up in the men’s short program tonight, was dressed like a taxi driver and performed to “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugarhill Gang.
“Rapper’s Delight” is a helluva lot better than Moulin Rouge, which has been inescapable in figure skating over the last few seasons. At national championships this year, I couldn’t get Ewan McGregor’s voice out of my head; I’m fairly certain that this will be the first and last time we hear Wonder Mike at these games in the figure skating competition.
Since video from NBC is very hard to post, enjoy Besseghier’s performance of the same program earlier this season. (At 1:20, he even gets down and does some b-boy footwork.)
