Giancarlo Stanton Got Sweet Revenge On Jason Grilli
Photo credit: Ronald Martinez/ [object Object] On Tuesday night, Rangers reliever Jason Grilli struck out Giancarlo Stanton to end the game, securing a 10-4 victory for his team. Grilli was pumped:
Which is fine. It’s okay to get a little jacked up when you strike out one of the most fearsome power hitters in baseball to end a game. Grilli did, however, open the door for some retribution, and oh boy did Giancarlo Stanton go stomping through it last night.
In the top of the eighth, with the Marlins up 13-5, Stanton hit a 468-foot bambinazo, and then mocked Grilli’s celebration from the previous night as he made his way to first:
Ooooh, Jason, he got you.
After the game, Stanton sassily confirmed what everyone already knew: he was getting revenge for the night before. “That was just for his reaction last night,” said Stanton. “When you have a reaction like that in a game that doesn’t matter, if that out is not the deciding factor in the game, then I’m going to do the same.”
